Beatrice turns one.

Friday night we had the family over for a little family celebration. Beatrice got to open some gifts because we thought it might be too overwhelming to have her open all of them at the party. Gigi and GrandPee got her a chair (among other things) with her name on it. She LOVES it! I think she knows that it's her chair because she always goes to sit in it and crawl around on it.

Here she is in her chair and the new shirt Gigi got her that says: 'Mamma I'm a big girl now!' (That's a song from the movie Hairspray.)

Saturday morning I woke up to bake her beehive cake. Now I've practice this cake for the last three weeks and it seems fitting that when I took it out of the oven Saturday morning and cooled it off for 15 minuets and then turned it over on to the cookie rack, like the directions say, that it did this:
Funny now, but not so funny at the time. I called my Dad crying and he took pity on me and made it without any practice! I think it stressed him out a bit though! This is what it was supposed to look like:

Thanks Dad! You rock... as always. I was smart and had cupcakes made for the kids... maybe I knew the cake would flake on me??

I also made some cookies... I guess I was really thinking ahead...

Stacey and David helped me frost them Friday night.
