I've decided....

Since this will be my second time giving birth AND since I feel a little more comfortable knowing whats going to happen and all, I've decided that I will allow visitors at the hospital. But only if those visitors bring me food! (Since the hospital food is awful!) Cookies from Goodies, or a chicken salad sandwich from Hazel's, or even a tuna sandwich from the Take Away Cafe. If you have other food suggestions I am open to hearing them... :) Cameras and video cameras will not be allowed though.

# 2 is doing well!

I just got back from the doctor, and number 2 is doing well! I got to hear the heartbeat again. Everything is normal. No worries with the AFP test everything is fine. I'm the same weight I was with Bea at the same number of weeks... does that make sense?? She's says I'm pretty consistent. She does want me to gain four pounds by the next time she sees me though... guess I better start eating the sweets! Just kidding. :)

Time Out

Lately when Beatrice is being naughty, like standing on the table, we'll ask her to get down. When she doesn't move and just stands there we ask, "Do you want to go to time out?" She then will solemnly nod, 'yes.' We have no choice but to say: "okay, go to time out then." She'll then crawl down from her perch and walk to her room and shut her door. She did this tonight at dinner. As she was walking down the hall to her room I watched her go and she turned to look at me, then she went into her room and shut the door. She then popped her head out a minute later to see if I was going to let her out. She's such a cutie, even when she's being naughty.

My Gut tells me...

A couple of people have asked me what my gut feeling was regarding the sex of number 2. I really don't know! How can I possible know?? Before I even got pregnant with Bea I had a dream like a couple of years before Bea that I had two little boys. I remember it so well because we were in South Africa. I was carrying one and the other was walking besides me. One wanted juice, which I didn't have any on me at the time. The other wanted pancakes, American pancakes like the ones my Dad makes. I told him that once we got back home to America he could have the pancakes... Needless to say that dream wasn't the future, because I have my beautiful little girl, Beatrice. (We're stopping at two, so there is no way that I will be having two boys later down the line.) I don't know. I can guess and think maybe it's a... but in the end I'd prefer to just wait and see. Only one more week! Hopefully the baby will be cooperating and give us the money shot! :)

Something can't be right...

Over the weekend we worked on Bea sleeping in her own bed. The first night she cried of course and huddled in the right hand corner of her crib. I had her Baby Einstein music playing. A night light from when I was little and her Beatrice light on. (Her Beatrice light is one of those glass cubes filled with Christmas lights and it has her name written on the front.) It's really pretty, but Izak and I are not sure if she likes it. Anyways, she also had her baby with her. She eventually fell asleep. She woke up around 3 a.m. crying. I was going to go in there, change her diaper turn the music back on and leave her in her crib. But when I picked her up she was shaking! Shaking like she was freaked out, and she hadn't been crying for that long, so it couldn't have been from that.
Last night we tried it again. She did the same thing, huddled in that same corner with her baby. She cried for a good 30 min. and then stopped. She laid down and was seemingly going to fall asleep. Then the air conditioner went off and I think she thought it was me so she looked up. When I didn't appear she put her head back down. Her music finally ended and it looked like she was actually going to fall asleep. But then she got up and started crying again. She didn't cry for very long. I got up to change the CD. We had been watching Mamma Mia! all weekend so I thought she would enjoy some ABBA singing her to sleep. When I went into her room to change the CD, she was visibly trembling. It freaked me out! I don't know if she's afraid of that light, or the CD player... I'm going to try to move things around this afternoon. I don't want to terrorize her if she's genuinely afraid to be in her room at night. Ugh! I just felt awful last night. She was upset and I started crying... needless to say she slept in our room.

Always getting into something.

Beatrice made a little fort out of her table and chairs.

Peek-a-boo! You can't see me!

Back on Track

Back in the day I used to print out a calendar and map out the months meals. I wanted to avoid getting fast food all the time or eating out. And let's face it every now and then it's nice to have a home cooked meal. I'm trying to get back to that. So I got my calendar in hand and went through my recipes, made a list and we went to the store to stock up for the remaining days this month. We're just about set except for some lunch meat, which we'll get this weekend. It's been really hard for me because I don't have any cravings! I know what I don't want for dinner but I never know what I do want. I figured this way by mapping it out I would just have to accept what we're having for dinner that night. We'll see how it works out.
In other news Beatrice is a true summer baby. She loves to spend her days in just her diaper. Or if she's outside in the little 'pool' Izak got her she's naked. It's quite a hassle to get clothes on her in the morning or even her pajamas at night! I often times have to bribe her. Like this morning. I had to bribe her with cookies. Luckily for me she thinks wheat thins are cookies so it's sort of a win win situation there. But the fit she'll throw as soon as you put her shirt on...
I know that I have to make Bea sleep in her bed. I tried to do it last night and she was crying and I was being strong. Izak on the other hand...was a big old softy! After almost 30 min. of her crying he got up to bring her some water and ended up bringing her back in bed with us. Luckily she slept on his side of the bed instead of pushing me off, like she normally does. We will practice tough love tonight. We probably won't get much sleep this weekend but hopefully by Monday Bea will be used to the idea. I know we need to get this going way before the new baby gets here so we better start now. Wish us luck!

Pee Pee in the Potty!

Beatrice peed in the potty today for the first time! (At least the first time here at home.) She's been really curious about the potty and she's known how to flush the toilet for a while now. Today after playing in her pool we came in and she said, "pee pee." I asked her if she wanted to sit on her potty seat and she said nodded yes. So I figured she'd just want to sit there for a bit and she did, but sure enough she started peeing!! Yay! I wonder if this was just a fluke though... we'll see!!

Getting ready for baby??

I pulled out Beatrice's old car seat to clean it for the new baby. Well she had another idea in mind for it. She wanted to play with it. She put her babies in it and tried to carry it around the house.
