First Night Out

Izak, Beatrice, Camille and I all went out last night to a restaurant for a friend's birthday dinner. This was the first time we ALL went out as a family. I was very curious to see how it would turn out. Luckily we were in a semi private room from the rest of the restaurant. Beatrice did very well. She sat and colored before her meal got there and then afterwards she was able to run around a bit and it was okay because we had the room to ourselves. Of course there was one moment where she left the room in search of Izak and Camille and I had to chase after her. Also I was worried she'd trip up our waitress with our dirty dishes, but she didn't. It was a pretty good evening. I might like to try it again. During the course of the night Beatrice would run around and entertain the other guests. At one point she lifted her shirt up to show off her tummy, which prompted "Girl's gone wild!" as a response. Beatrice has heard this phrase before. Actually her teachers at her school say: "Babies gone wild!" and this one boy will lift up his shirt. So once Bea heard that and saw everyone laughing she ran around lifting up her shirt and saying: "babies wild! babies wild!" It was pretty funny I must admit.

This morning Beatrice wanted me to make her waffles. She is such a good helper. She helped me put the Bisquick in the blender AND turned the blender on for me. She still has a horrible sounding cough though. And now Millie is a bit congested. :( I hope we can all shake this soon.

First Time

This morning was the first time I had to take both girls to the doctor. We had an appointment for Beatrice but obviously Camille was going to come along. It was the most imperfect morning to do this because it was raining! But it worked out well, neither of the girls freaked out. Beatrice was well enough to go back to daycare today. Izak and Beatrice had gone to the walk in clinic on Sunday morning and they both had bronchitis and were given meds. They both stayed home on Monday and Tuesday. (That was a cluster.) Our schedules were totally messed up with Izak home. Beatrice basically had no nap those two days... and she was so moody! After speaking with her doctor today I found out that one of the meds she was on was making her moody. The doctor said she didn't have to take that one any more.. and lowered the dosage and frequency of the other. So it looks like we're on the right track! I'm just glad that Bea's back at school and Izak's back at work... I can finally get the house cleaned - it was clean this weekend but quickly went down hill while everyone was off. I just want us all to be healthy! And for Millie and I not to get sick!

Why?

Well, the 'whys' have begun. Whenever Izak or I asks Beatrice to do something she asks: "Why mommy?" or "Why daddy?" Then when you explain further she continues with, "why, why?" Last night I heard Izak saying: "Because I said so!" So funny!

Mommy Pancakes

Yesterday I was asking Bea what she wanted for breakfast. She said, "Mommy pancakes!" Last week for Valentines I had made a Valentine's Day brunch and invited my parents over. The brunch consisted of blueberry pancakes, a potato, egg, and bacon dish (a recipe from my cousin Lisa.) and mimosas! Well, a mimosa for me, champagne for everyone else. :) I don't normally make pancakes or waffles on the weekends because in the past I'm the only one that eats it. Izak is a bacon and eggs type of guy. (Plus in South Africa waffles and pancakes are dessert to them-go figure.) So I couldn't wait to have kids big enough to actually have a Saturday or Sunday morning pancakes or waffles like my dad used to make. Of course I was still reluctant to make pancakes for just two. But Beatrice was insistent so I made some pancakes. I ended up freezing the left overs and Bea had some of them this morning for breakfast again.

Camille turned 2 months old yesterday! She's getting so big already and it makes me sad. She already had her 2 month well baby doctor appointment. And the doctor said she was 'perfect.' I felt so bad when she had to get her three injections. Her little face and head got so red! But she calmed down right away when they gave her the oral injection-that stuff must taste good.

It seems Beatrice has been trying to fight off a cold. What was just a runny nose and a cough now seems a lot worse! She and Izak are both unwell and are going to go to the walk in clinic this morning. Beatrice is so warm! She's had a fever since early early this morning. Camille and I, for now are untouched. I'm trying really hard to keep Bea away from Millie. I don't want her to get sick!!

Twinkle Twinkle

Yesterday morning Beatrice decided to color on the floor in my bathroom while singing Twinkle Twinkle Little Star. It was so cute I had to catch it on camera. She sang Izak and I to bed last night with Twinkle Twinkle as well as her version of the Itsy Bitsy Spider, I will have to try to get that on video as well.

As for pink eye... we finally got rid of it. Only to find out that another kid at daycare has it AGAIN!! Ugh! Give me a break here!

Pink Eye!

Well, pink eye has been going around Bea's daycare and I think she's got it. This morning she woke up puking and her eye looked pink in the corner. It looks a lot pinker now. :( Despite that I actually ventured out to lunch with some friends with both girls. And thanks to some help by my friend Maria, Beatrice did very well. I was quite surprised. Maybe we can start going out to dinner again...
