Funny things and last weekend.

Beatrice will 'read' a book out loud to herself and she'll say: 'You have to go to bed, Mommy sayd.'

Yesterday she was talking about the witch again in Piggies & Paws. I said: 'The witch in Piggies & Paws?' She said: 'Yes, she took the girl's dog!' It was then that I realized she meant Wizard of Oz. (hahaha!)

Last weekend was super crazy for the Du Toit's. Friday night Izak had a company dinner that we had to attend and right afterwards we hopped in the car and drove to San Diego for Tina's baby shower. We stayed the night in Valencia then drove to S.D in the morning. I was late to the shower but better late then never right!? We stayed at the Rancho Bernardo Inn and I just love that place. I seriously wish my house was in that Spanish style and that I had someone to go around and dust everything!
On Saturday I went to the baby shower with the girls and it was so fun to see everyone again and catch up! The food was delicious and the setting was so nice. Verlyn always throws such nicely decorated classy parties. Beatrice and Camille were so well behaved the entire time too. Once we got back to the hotel that was another story! Izak and Stacey went to pack up Stace's belongings for her move to Colorado while the girls and I 'rested' at the hotel. Bea was a monster! She was so cranky because she was tired but refused to nap! As soon as I got her to put her head down on the pillow she was out. Camille on the other hand, after having napped in the arms of Tutu and Auntie Stacey at the party, was ready to party again! So I was up with her. Like I said, no rest for the weary. It was such a fun yet quick weekend. I wish we had more time to stay and enjoy it all. I felt so bad for the girls because we were basically in the car the whole weekend. Oh well, such is the life of a traveler. ;)

Pictures!

Ok, well I still have to get used to the way this thing uploads photos. They're a little mixed up.

Our first trip to Disney Land!
Beatrice watching the celebration parade.
Camille taking it all in on the Small World ride.
Beatrice looking to see what's ahead for her as we enter the Small World ride.
My big baby. We pulled this out for Camille to enjoy, but of course Bea wants to be in it too.
Camille LOVES the exerciser!

Another part of our L.A trip. My Dodger girls!

At what point do you stop... caring??

The other day I was with a mixed group of people. I was looking around the group, observing everyone. A few people caught my eye. They made me wonder at what point does one stop caring about how they look. I don't know if this is the case but do they not notice that what they're wearing and how they do their hair does not make them very attractive?

First off I noticed every one's feet. It is sandal weather after all. Can I just say that some people shouldn't wear sandals. They're feet are either all dry and cracked or their toe nails are horrendous!

On person had their bangs combed to one side. For some reason this was just NOT a good look for this person. I couldn't figure out why though. Was it the color of the hair? Or just the way it was combed over to begin with?

Another person was wearing a fanny pack. Yes, you read correctly, a fanny pack. Will someone tell me what's wrong with bringing a little wristlet? If one does not wish to cart around a big purse or even a cute small purse...at what point is a fanny pack 'ok?'

Do these people look in the mirror in the morning and think: 'Hot damn I look good today!' Or do they simply don't care any more? What, they are so comfortable with who they are that they don't really care how they look and how they are viewed by others?

I'm sorry but I'm pretty sure I will NEVER wear a fanny pack. I know I will always part MY hair the same way because I know it looks good that way. I will change it up now and then, straight, curly, curly/straight. I will play around with makeup and find what I think is best. But I will always keep my eyes open to new trends and try those every now and then as well. The same can be said for the way I dress.

I'm just desperate to ask these people: WHY!?

Jackie O and Audrey Hepburn never lost there style as they aged. I hope to emulate them.

Goodbye

I had to say goodbye to my beautiful cat today. I can remember the day that I got him. I was a junior in high school and I had some money saved and when I came across Siamese cats at the pet store in our mall I was so excited. I always thought that I would like to have a Siamese cat because Grandma Bea had one. And the stories my dad told about her and her cats, I dunno, I guess I figured if I had one I'd be closer to her somehow. (?) I could actually afford one, and I'd been eying the one that was jumping around all over the place. I quickly called my Mom for permission and I somehow talked her into allowing me to buy one. I went back to the pet store and again I was eying the rambunctious one but then I thought to myself I should get the one in the corner all mellow by himself. I wouldn't have to worry about him destroying my Mom's furniture. Well that night was a disaster! He was up all night meowing and playing with things in my room. I still didn't have a name for him. I think I called him Hamlet for half a day. Nothing sounded right. My dad actually came up with the name. He had a cool palm pilot that could translate words and we typed in, 'cat' and clicked on the Japanese button and got his name. I thought it sounded cool and funny that I'm really just calling him cat in another language. So he was christened and he became apart of our family. He was the coolest cat, next to Siam (though Siam was way cooler!) He came when I called him. He snuggled into my neck and put his arms around my neck like he was a human baby. He was my baby! Sure I accidentally smashed his little kitty head in between things on occasion. And he feel from the loft a couple of times. His cheese hole would often smell and I actually had to go to the vet to get his cheese hole squeezed. (ugh) And in his older age he developed a delayed reaction or something because any loud noise or sudden movement would freak him out and many a time I was clawed because he'd be laying on me and then jump off of me all scared. But all in all he was such a lovable cat. So soft, such a cuddler. He always wanted to be in some one's lap. He was an attention whore! :) The reason I had to put him down was because he had a nob on his shoulder and he kept picking at it and it became a huge golf ball sized bloody hole. :( He just wasn't doing well. David offered to come with me today. It was such a hard thing to do. I know he just went to sleep and woke up in a better place with his good friend Siam there, waiting for him, and Grandma Bea to watch out for them and feed them.

I love you my Peekies!

Big Bed Revisited

Beatrice is now back in her own bed! Last week I slept with her every night, all night. This week by Wednesday she had fallen asleep without me before I got out of the shower. Last night she wanted Izak to sleep with her. So I've been back in my bad, but I'm still sore! I don't think my body is used to being back in my own bed. This morning she woke up at 4 a.m. Looking for Izak, I was hoping to get her to fall back asleep so I had her crawl in bed with me. It didn't really work very well. So I turned the t.v on and started Wonder Pets! I really hope she keeps sleeping in her bed now. Pretty soon Camille will be in there with her so hopefully that will help. Stacey sent me some information which really helped me to realize that I have to be firm about this. Here we go....

5k

Izak and I ran/jogged a 5k last Saturday. It was a race, but we didn't run it to win, obviously! :) We weren't last!! I hope to keep up with this running/jogging thing. We've already purchased a jogging stroller and we like it so far. I didn't take any pictures of the run. All I have to remember the run by is my number... who'd have thought I would run a 5k!?!
