Our Weekend

Yesterday Beatrice was a busy girl as usual. She helped me with our Valentine cards.

She got into some make up and made a huge mess!
I know it may surprise you that I didn't get upset. Instead I was just glad that she made the mess on the wood floor and not on the carpet.

I gave her some wet paper towels and put her to work at cleaning the mess.

Beatrice also found time to play dress up with her Disney Princess dress up box that she got for her birthday from the Ibarra clan.
This is actually her prom dress that auntie Mel got her for Christmas.
This morning Beatrice wanted to be Snow White.

This evening we will head over to Gigi and Grandpy's for dinner. I hope Grandpy will have some time to trim Bea's bangs. That's about the end of our pretty uneventful weekend.

Friday morning breakfast with friends

Friday morning Beatrice woke up and saw me with my cereal bowl and wanted some for herself. She also said that her puppy and Belle wanted some. I got three bowls out and poured cereal into each bowl. She took a couple of handfuls for herself and then realized that they needed spoons. She ran to her drawer and pulled out three spoons for each of them. Then it was very cute because she proceeded to try to feed each of them with their spoon some of their rice krispies. I guess imagination already comes installed in children?? I thought you'd have to teach them to make believe and pretend but Beatrice seems to already know how to do it.

Puppy, Belle (hiding behind her bowl) and Beatrice. Puppy, Belle (chillin' on the table) and Beatrice.
(Yes that is the infamous ball shirt next to Bea.)

Belle refused to stand up next to her bowl so we put her IN her bowl.

I wasn't sure if you could see Belle so I got an up close shot.

Beatrice about to feed Belle, before she got them spoons.

Ball Shirt!

Yesterday while driving to gymnastics I thought Beatrice was saying, "bullshit!" I paused and tried to figure out what she was saying. Surely my little girl couldn't be saying bullshit. I rarely say that myself. So as I sat there navigating the dark road it occurred to me what she was trying to say. My mom had gotten Bea a little Belle doll. Her gown can be taken off. Beatrice was calling it a shirt. I was trying to tell her it was a dress. My mom was telling her that night that it was a ball gown. So my darling daughter was trying to say ball gown. But instead of saying gown, she was saying ball shirt, which sounds an awful lot like bullshit. After we got back from the gym and went to my mom's house to pick up Camille she was talking about it again and my dad thought she was saying the same thing! It was actually pretty funny. I guess you had to be there. :)
Beatrice is quite the talker! It amazes me the things she says. She used to say, "Me do it!" or "Me have it." and now she says, "Beatrice do it!" It's funny to hear her talk about herself like that. She's also quite the singer. She'll be singing songs that she knows either in mash up fashion like stringing frosty the snowman with the sun will come up tomorrow. She'll say, "jolly happy soul" at random. I've also heard her make up a song singing: "Beatrice du TOY." She's hilarious and she's always keeping me on my toes.
Camille is doing well. She's eating like crazy and her little neck is already so strong! I can't believe she's a month old already. She'll be starting daycare on the first of March. I hope I'm ready to let her go.

I just said:

"I'll give you something to cry about!" to Beatrice... geezz... I'm turning into my parents! =P

Superman!

Over the weekend Superman with Christopher Reeves was on. Somehow Beatrice got hooked. I really don't know how because there is no music or singing... maybe it's just Superman's steely blue eyes and jet black hair?? :D Anyway she requested to watch it for the remainder of the weekend which is a nice break from the never ending Mamma Mia!

When bribing doesn't work...

Lately I've been bribing Beatrice. I bribe her with all sorts of things, food, getting to watch a favorite movie or playing with a favorite toy. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. Today, after her bath, she did not want to put any clothes on and that included not wanting to wear a diaper. I tried bribing her, but to no avail. I decided to try something different. I told her I would take her new Dora bubbles AWAY. That didn't seem to phase her. I made good on my threat and took them away and put them up on the counter. She screamed and ran down the hall. I thought it was to get clothes to put on. But it was to get her step stool! She ran to get her step stool and proceeded to try to reach the bubbles up on the counter. By then I had already placed them in a cupboard. Talk about clever!! Finally I just sent her to her room. I told her she couldn't come out until she picked out some clothes to wear. I don't know how long she was in there but I finally heard her say: 'done! done mommy!' When I walked in there she had a shirt in hand and some pants. Why does my child not like to wear clothes!?

Gymnastics!

Beatrice had her first day of gymnastics last night! It's Fun with a Friend (aka Mommy) for the under three crowd. She had a hard time warming up to the teacher and other kids. She didn't want to do any of the moves and at one point said, "home, go home." But then it was time to walk on the balance beams and jump on the trampoline and then slide down this long curvy slide, well that caught her attention. She loved the trampoline! Of course I had to jump on there with her a couple of times. And she loved the little pit with the foam blocks in it. I think that was her favorite. She got to hang on the uneven bars and do a handstand (with my help.) And I don't know how many times she went down the slide! We then got to move down to the main floor where kids of all ages were in their own groups with their own coaches and lessons. Beatrice had a little trouble staying in her group. She wanted to do what the older kids were doing. I think I got just as much of a work out as she did for all the running around after her I had to do. She did not want to leave when the class was over. I had to drag her out of there! I'm glad that she likes it and I hope next week she'll be able to participate more. I'm sure she'll still be distracted by the older kids though.

Clean up time!

When ever it's time to clean up I tell Bea, "it's clean up time!" She then asks: "Clean up time?" and then she proceeds to sing, "clean up time, clean up time" as she picks stuff up. Now some days it's easier to get her to clean up then others. She's especially efficient when she wants something. The other night she wanted M&M's. I told her that she could have them after she cleaned up her stuff off the floor. I suppose I needed to be more specific because Beatrice went around and picked up her stuff off the floor and piled it all on top of the coffee table and end table! I wonder who she gets that from?!

Bea's 2nd Birthday

Yesterday we celebrated Beatrice 2nd Birthday with a low key birthday party. We had some friends over at the house, ordered a couple of pizzas and just enjoyed the day and company. The weather was perfect! It was nice and sunny and the kids were able to run around outside and play in Bea's play house and on her little fort thingy.
Beatrice got a lot of great gifts and we have tons of cupcakes left over! :/ I was so busy holding or nursing Camille that I forgot to offer the kids the juice boxes I'd bought specifically for the party AND I forgot to designate someone to hand out the favors! A couple of guest didn't get their favors! (Sorry guys!)
Auntie Stacey and Uncle David were tremendous helps! Thanks a bunch you guys! I couldn't have done it without you. Stacey took a lot of pictures so as soon as she gets them to me I will post some. Or you can check em' out on her flickr site. (Did I spell that right?) Anyways it was a great day and I can't believe my little girl is two!

Oh What a Night...

Or should I say morning? Millie refuses to sleep. :/ Figures. I have her in her swing right now. I'm praying she'll fall asleep soon so I can oh so carefully take her out and put her in her crib. I tried to use another pacifier on her. After gagging a couple of times she finally took it for about an hour, maybe less. When it came time to feed her she wasn't too nice to me nursing... could it have been the pacifier? Or is she just gassy? Gave her some mylcon (sp? sorry, I'm being lazy and I don't want to get up and see how it's spelled.) drops and I'm waiting. She's been really congested, coughing, she has a super runny boogie nose that could be it too I guess. She has a doctor appointment tomorrow morning. Poor thing. But I still want to SLEEP! Its like whenever Izak offers to watch her it's almost time for me to feed her again so whats the point of trying to nap when I'm just gonna have to get up in ten minuets. Today I went and took a little nap, but I don't really know if I slept any. It just felt like I was just laying there. I hate 'sleep' like that. It messes with my mind!
Beatrice is doing a lot better. Her antibiotics seem to be helping. Oh and she's back in her room tonight. What a chore that was. Izak was in there for about an hour with her and she was still up! But once I come in... well she was probably asleep in five maybe ten minuets?? I don't know if I have the magic touch or if I'm just more stern...
Anyway, I just hope everyone stays healthy for Bea's party this Saturday.

Crap, Millie is crying...damn swing... I thought you'd be my godsend! Grrr.... Oh sleep.... will I ever see you again??

I think I've reached a decision...

Thanks to my charming daughter Beatrice, who already seems to be in her terrible two's, I think I've made up my mind as to wanting to return to work for good or be a SAHM... I think I'll go back to work! Friday morning I had to fight with her to put clothes on! I literally had to hold her down to get clothes on her. Normally I might have let it go. She was staying home with me for the day because she had a runny nose and watery eyes, but that being the case she needed to have clothes on. I seriously felt like Mommy Dearest!! It was awful. And I don't wish to repeat it. So I think for my own sanity I shall return to work. Maybe once she gets older I'll reconsider it, but for now... no thanks!

So we're all stuck inside this weekend trying to stay healthy for Bea's 2nd birthday party next Saturday. Camille has been acting a little congested so I'm keeping a close eye one her.. speaking of which I should go because she's currently crying. :(

Here is Bea in some 'homemade' leg warmers and the dress up shoes Auntie Mel got her for Christmas. She loves those shoes even though she tends to slip in them on our flooring.

My tutu girls!
Camille and Beatrice in the tutus cousin Lindsay made for them. Bea was intently watching Babes in Toyland and could not be persuaded to look up at me!

Still watching Babes in Toyland.

Busy Week

This week Tutu and Joshie came to visit us! Here are some pictures from this week and last week. It's been more than a little crazy adjusting to having a newborn in the house again.. :)

Beatrice loves her baby sister! I finally finished writing the details of Beatrice 2nd birthday party on the invites I made. They are all mailed out and we're ready to party! Well, almost ready.
The other morning Beatrice said Frosty wanted some waffles. We made Frosty at build a bear with auntie Stacey. He has a heart that Bea picked out for him and he has the Frosty the Snowman song that plays when you press his arm. He also lights up when you tip his hat. Bea just loves Frosty. I think snowmen are her favorite winter character. I hope to take her up to the snow to build a real snowman one of these weekends.

I gave Bea an old make-up kit of mine. She loved it. She brought it over to Gigi's and gave Tutu and Gigi a make-over.
