ONE day left!

The girls have one more day of school. This week, because of the show and other schools being out, I've been lax in my morning routine.  I get up when I'm supposed to and get ready and all, but I've been letting the girls wake up on their own. (Within reason) I'm just more chilled out... no yelling etc. Because of this we've gotten to school late, when their classes have already started. Trying to drop off each girl to her own classroom is a nightmare. Yesterday they both held on to me and said they were sick. Today they still didn't want me to go so I ended up watching each of them do a 'work' for a little bit. It's so nice to see them working on their own quietly and putting stuff away once they're done... why can't they do that at our house!?!?

So I was late to work today...

Did I mention...

... I'm starting a Girl Scout Daisy troop!? Yeah. I am. I'm SO excited about it! Had a bit of trouble finding a co-leader but I found an AMAZING one!! We had to take these classes - just two - but they were like 3 hours long! It wasn't bad. I had to sign up 5 girls in order to get a troop number. And even though we'll begin meetings in August I needed to get girls signed up now so we could open a bank account and be ready to sell fall product! (I have NO clue what I'm getting myself into regarding this fall product stuff.) I found the five girls - Bea helped. Got their paperwork in and finally, just yesterday I was assigned a troop number!! I'm SO excited!

Now I just need to:  find sponsors
                                 open that bank account
                                 go supply shopping
make a rough draft/outline of our entire Daisy year... and whatever else...

Sometimes I start feeling overwhelmed with all the things we still need to do, but I just have to stop myself and tell myself: take things one at a time! Make a list and cross them off as you go!

We'll see how it goes!

Kindergarten Dilemma

In a perfect world...

Bea would have gotten transferred from our home school to the school right across the street from the new preschool she and Millie will be going to.

But this isn't a perfect world...

My options are: To keep Bea where she is (there are still spaces open.) But move Millie (there aren't any spaces open for her.) Yes, I'd still be spending exactly what I'm spending now and making the stupid drive ACROSS town.

Or keep Bea there and try to see what comes up for Millie by trying to bring her back? (This may involve having to keep Millie at work for part of the day because they might only have afternoon spaces available like they did when Bea started.)

Or find another school entirely - I think I'm too late in the game for that.

I've looked into places that watch the kids and take them to school but the only one I know of doesn't make it out to our home school.

So at this point I'm still spending my lunch break picking Bea up and taking her:

  With me to the office?

To another daycare? (The preschool we're moving to doesn't have space to watch her in the afternoons.)

Or do I just leave her at her home school and sign her up for the afternoon program which I've heard not so great things about?

I've already called the new preschool and told them my dilemma... with any luck an afternoon space will open up and everything will be gold!  At least that's what I'm hoping for.

I lied...

At Bea's last dental appointment we were informed that she had a cavity. (I figured this would happen eventually because she's so bad about brushing her teeth. And I'm sorry, but I'm just too busy to always keep reminding her.)  We had to make an appointment to get it filled. I was nervous for her. I hate the sound of the drill! And I always get a little panicked when I hear it... thanks to my old dentist who tried to fix a gap in my tooth.... anyways... I wasn't sure what I should tell her, if anything. The dentist said: "Don't tell her anything, I'll explain it all at the appointment." I was good with that! The day of the appointment Bea asked me how they were going to get the cavity out. I lied and said: "I don't know... we'll have to see when we get there." I felt bad. But I didn't want her to freak out like I did/do!

Once in the dentist's chair the dentist went through everything. He said he was going to 'blow out the cavity bugs with water from this. (He showed her the drill minus the drill head.) When she was all numbed up and ready to go, she said her cheek felt all weird and fat. The dentist went to work with his drill and I was sitting there, watching with Millie on my lap methodically rubbing the back of her hand. I was SO worried for her! Then Bea started to make a little "ahh" noise and I was thinking: "Oh God! It's me all over again!!!" (The same thing had happened to me! The numbing stuff was wearing off or wasn't all over the place and I could feel the drill!! And my stupid dentist was saying: "There's no crying!" He finally pulled the drill out long enough for me to say: "It's hurting!" JERK!!!) But Bea's dentist was basically done by then and before we knew it her tooth was filled.

I told her how proud I was of her being so brave. She said it hurt a little bit, but mostly just felt weird and tingly. And she also said she was a little scared but she wanted to be brave for me and the dentist. I love that stinker girl so much!

Dance Issue

Several days ago Beatrice had a dance issue. It was so bad that Izak vowed never, ever, ever, EVER to take the girls to dance again. EVER.

Millie always wants someone to stay with her in the class. It takes a couple of minuets but eventually she gets distracted and lets the teacher walk her to her carpet for warm ups.

Bea is normally pretty good about running into class. Normally. I guess a few times before Izak had a little bit of trouble but it was nothing compared to THAT day. THAT day consisted of Bea running out of the studio and nearly getting run over twice, Izak holding the dance studio door closed so Bea couldn't get out, AND the dent to a friend's car.

I could see why he'd never want to take them to dance again after that. Unfortunately, I've had rehearsals and trying to figure out a way around Izak's vow never to take the girls to dance was tricky. I suggested that I take them and drop them off and then he could come and pick them up. The first time it worked. The second time I just didn't really want to go to dance. I wanted to stay home. Eat dinner. Then go to rehearsal without feeling stressed. This happened this Tuesday. I was going to suggest to Bea that if she was good at dance I'd let her sleep in my bed with me. But before I could get the offer out there Bea said: "Can I have a second chance with Daddy at dance? I promise I'll be good."  I told her she'd have to ask dad. He reluctantly agreed. I was so surprised with suggestion that I went ahead and whispered in her ear my proposition. She was even more thrilled. Both girls were excellent that day.

Last night was the night she got to sleep in bed with me. I couldn't do it Tuesday because I got home late from rehearsal and Wednesday she had lost her tooth and was waiting for the Tooth Fairy. So last night I had to wake her up out of her bed - because we were waiting for Millie to fall asleep. This morning when Bea woke up she said: "Thank you for keeping your promise."

Waves

This morning Camille woke up and said she had a dream that she was at the beach and that there weren't any waves. She said: I think the waves were tired.

Summer is coming...

I'm looking into summer activities for the girls to do. Millie will be at her new school.  Bea will be with Gigi learning to read. If things work out she'll be taking a musical theatre class this summer as well as swimming lessons again. Millie will be taking dance and swimming lessons with her sister! I'm so glad the girls are finally old enough to be in the same swim class. It's a bit of a hassle to drive everyone around to their different classes.  I REALLY hope the fall dance schedule will be kind to me!! I'm really hoping everything will work out like it did this last year.

I've got so much on my plate coming up I'm feeling overwhelmed already even though I shouldn't... at least not yet!  The girls have their dance recital in June (my show opens the same week.) I'm visiting my sister in Denvy! (Finally) I may be taking a small part in a show doing the Cell Block Tango from Chicago.  I'm starting a girl scout troop - I'm one girl away from getting my troop number! (Trying to get the year planned of meeting and activities is my top priority!)  I'm directing a show in the fall - super easy though 5 women sitting on the stage reading their lines (or they could have them memorized if they wish do so.) There's another show right after mine that I would LOVE to be in... but I dunno... have I taken on too much already?? I might be signing the girls up for Cheer - a different, better cheer! This one practices on Saturday morning and cheers on Saturday morning all within an hour!  How convenient is that!? And by then Millie will be old enough to do it too!

It just seems like there is so much to do and so little time!!
