Over the weekend I had a little shin-dig for my brother's Golden birthday/graduation. It was fun to throw something together for him. I hope he enjoyed it.
This same day Beatrice fell wrong on her arm while jumping on the trampoline and broke it! I at first thought she was just crying more out of embarrassment then pain but she kept crying, even when offered strawberry ice cream with sprinkles. Izak and I took her to Urgent Care 30 min before they closed. She had x-rays taken and the doctor came in and said: "It's broken. Follow up with your pediatrician this week." Then two nurses came in and put a smelly fiber glass splint on her arm and wrapped it up with ace bandage and then gave her a kiddie sling for it. Beatrice started crying immediately. She felt she looked ugly. She was so upset. I felt horrible for her. I offered to take her to the movies the next day but she didn't want to be seen. She kept saying people would laugh at her. (I'm not sure where she got that from.)
Today I took her to the pediatrician. She said she was sending me to the Ortho to see an expert. But she assured me she wouldn't need a pin. So we got squeezed into seeing the ortho - had to wait a bit. He came in, unwrapped her arm, looked at it... then said: "You can just keep this on if you'd like, you can take it off for a bit in the evenings, just don't bump her arm. Otherwise we could put a hard cast on." No question there! Lets just keep the smelly one! Especially if we can take it off in the evening! It will make bath time easier for sure. Bea was a little sad because we'd been telling her she could get a pink cast and have everyone sign it. But I told her this was way better especially since we'll be going to the beach and Disney Land in a few weeks. I also told her that she could just have the kids sign her ace bandage. She seemed to be content with that.
I'm just glad we'll be able to take it on and off. Glad she'll be able to preform in her recital without it and glad she'll be better for swim lessons! Thank you Lord!!
In other news I've been working with Millie to use the potty like a big girl! She did really well all day yesterday. I just hope while at daycare she doesn't revert back! I'm anxious to have her potty trained so she can start Green House in the fall and take ballet class - she LOVES to dance!
