Millie in the ER

Where do I begin!? Late Friday afternoon I get a call from daycare. They said Millie had a slight fever. When I went to pick her up... well there was nothing slight about it. She was on fire! So hot to the touch. It freaked me out. I immediately drove her and Bea over to Quick Care. I called my dad on the way over hoping he could come and corral Bea, which he did. (Thanks a TON dad!) The doc or PA, or whatever she was, on duty clearly was not comfortable diagnosing a infant. All I knew at that point was that Millie had a temperature of 104. The doctor suggested I swing by in the morning, apparently there would be a pediatrician in. I gave Millie Pedialyte and Tylenol all night. I had both girls in bed with me, that was quite tricky. Saturday morning Millie's temp was down a bit, 101. I arrived at the doctor's office before the pediatrician even got in. I wanted to be the first and I was. But sadly the pediatrician didn't seem to know what was wrong either. She had the nurse check for strep, and some other thing where they swab Millie's boogies. Both of those tests came back negative. So she had blood work done, and a chest x-ray. Both of those didn't tell her jack apparently. She did give Millie a prescription for some antibiotics and she also gave me a copy of her chest x-rays and blood results saying: 'just in case you end up in the emergency room later today.' I'm sorry, but WTF?? You're so NOT sure of your diagnosis that I may end up in the emergency room? Millie's fever kept slowly climbing and by 3:30 my mom and I were freaked out enough to take her to the emergency room. Sure enough her temp was 105! :( They gave her some Tylenol and Motrin and we just waited. They took her temp again and it was slowly going down. They did a nose swab for flu - that was negative. They also took a urine sample thinking it was a UTI. Nothing. They just said to give her Tylenol and Motrin and watch the fever. Camille's fever has been slowly going up and down. Early this morning she was finally cool to the touch and I was able put some clothes on her. I just don't understand how people in the medical profession can NOT know what is going on with a baby! I have an appointment with our pediatrician late this morning and I'm hoping to hell she'll have an answer.

*I would like to thank my Mom and Dad for ALL their help this weekend! You guys really helped me not to stress and worry about Bea, I knew she was in good hands. :) Mom thanks for your company in the ER.

**I'd also like to apologize (again) to Dez for missing Adam's 3rd birthday. I was really looking forward to it too. :( We will have to meet up to give Adam his gift.

That's what Grandparents are for. I was very proud of how calm you were while I was losing it with the triage nurse! I hope this is the worst thing we ever have to endure!

No need to apologize! All that matters is that Millie gets better. I would be so frustrated as well if someone could not give me anwsers.Glad that you finally know what was wrong.
