Blood letting

Today Beatrice had her 9 month check up. At first I was excited because the doctor had said she wouldn't have to get any more shots but then the doctor realized what month and season we would be in and informed us that Beatrice would need a flu shot AND would need to have blood drawn. :( UGH! So today we went, and I dreaded it. When it came time for the flu shot she just cried for a second. I was so proud! But then I was told I had to go to the lab for her blood to be drawn. I slowly walked down to the lab, just sick. I was so worried how she would be. When her name was called we went in and we sat in the big chair together. Two nurses came to work on her. I thought they'd just draw the blood from her finger, but since I had asked for Bea to be tested for allergies they needed to draw more blood from her arm! So I sat there with Bea in my lap while I watched one of the nurses try to find her vein in her arms. She tried the right one first but couldn't find it. Then she tried the left one and had better luck. They needed to use a 'butterfly' thing, when it came time for the nurse to stick the needle in Bea was just so into watching them and wondering what the heck they were doing she barely whimpered! I couldn't believe it! She didn't cry! They must have been really good, and I'm so thankful that they were. I don't know if I could stand to see Bea crying from that. I nearly cried just anticipating her crying. :) So we're almost done with the shots. She just needs to go back next month for the second installation of her flu shot then her 12 month check up in January.

Yay Bea! I know, it is heartbreaking to watch. I'm glad that it went ok!

Bea's just like her mom! When you were two, you had to have blood drawn. They had you lying down on a table and just before they stuck you with the needle I yelled, "There's Mickey Mouse!" You were looking all around so I guess you didn't feel it cuz you didn't shed one tear! Come to think of it, you didn't seem too mad that Mickey wasn't there, either. Maybe you were drugged!

Little Bebe is a tough girl.. and clearly isn't afraid of needles, so you know what the means - she's totally getting a tattoo one summer in San Diego (just kidding, Izak!)
